Mark Elliot Zuckerberg an American software developer was born on May 14,1984 in White Plains ,New York created the social networking site Facebook.He is CEO and President of Facebook . Zuckerberg was born to Karen and Edward Zuckerberg and has three sisters Randi, Donna and Arielle.Originally called The Facebook website was founded by Mark Zuckerberg while he was Harvard undergraduate .Mark was good in computers and at very early age he created several computer programs and games.He created the Facemash ,while he was in Harvard ,which let students to choose the best looking students among the group of photographs.
Facebook initially was connecting only Harvard students but later expanded to other colleges such as Stanford,Yale etc.Facebook was founded by Zuckerberg along with his classmates Dustin Moskovitz,Eduardo Saverin and Chris Hughes while they were students at Harvard university .In the year 2005 The Facebook was officially called Facebook and domain Facebook.com was purchased for a whooping price of $200,000.Seeing Facebook initial success at Harvard, Zuckerberg decided to spread it to other schools with the help of his roommate Dustin Moskovitz .By the end of year 2004, Facebook had over one million users.The wirehog site was created as file sharing site for Facebook users.In 2006, Facebook was opened to anyone who wish to join and by the year 2011 Mark has a user base of 600 millions, which is growing rapidly.
CONTROVERSIES:
- Zuckerberg was reprimanded by the Harvard administrator for downloading private ID pics for his Facemesh website from the university's network .
- Mark former classmates Cameron, Tyler Winklevoss and Divya Narendra sued him claiming that he stole their idea and source code for his Facebook ,when they asked him for his help in the year 2003 to build a social network called Harvardconnection.com.The case settled for $65 million.
- Aaron Greenspan claimed that Zuckerberg stole some of his idea for Facebook.The dispute was settled for unknown amount.
In 2010,Zuckerberg was named Time magazine's Person of the year. His personal wealth is estimated to be $13.5 billion.
